How long have you been in business?
Gesang Incorporated was formulated in 2010 and prior to that we were Gesang Enterprises since 1995.
Our total years in construction counting all 6 of us is 106 years.
Many of us did new construction starting from 1981 until 2008 and we have been focusing on remodels since that time.
Do you provide written bids or just estimates?
We write very detailed, easy to read, comprehensive bids for the entire project. We want the client to know exactly what they are receiving. We attempt to have the client select all the building materials and list them in the bid. This includes plumbing fixtures, cabinets, counters, tile, millwork, flooring, etc.
How do you handle change orders?
There are three reasons why there might be a change order.
The client asks to deviate from the written bid
Hidden damage is discovered in the process of the demo.
The city or county makes us change something which was not anticipated.
If there is a change order needed, it can be written up and a signature obtained from the client. Payment is sometimes required depending on the magnitude of the change.
How do you handle delays?
We try to have all the building materials like fixtures and tile onsite before we begin so there are no delays caused by material shortages.
Our process is to start a job and continue working on it without a break until completion
Do you obtain building permits?
Any project which adds square footage to the living space of your house requires a permit.
Any project which changes the bathroom/bedroom configuration of your house requires a permit.
We draw plans and submit for permits whenever they are needed or desired.
Do you subcontract your work?
We do most of the work. But we have sub-contractors we work with for electrical, plumbing, hvac, roofing, and hardwood flooring.
How do you handle demo and refuse from the job?
If the job is large enough, and there is room onsite, we will have a large construction dumpster brought to the job.
Most of the time we use our own 12’ van to haul materials away and haul refuse to the dump.
We try to recycle whatever materials can be reused. We sometime take cabinets, doors, fixtures and windows to one of the building materials salvage yards.
Who will be the main point of contact on the job?
Elliot does the blueprints, bids, and permits.
Michael and David run the jobs, and they are the point of contact at the jobsite on a daily basis.
What areas do you work in?
We work in Pierce county, especially Gig Harbor, University Place, Tacoma, Puyallup, Graham, Bonney Lake, Lake Tapps.
We work in Kitsap county, especially Port Orchard
We work in Thurston county, especially Lacey and Olympia.
Do you offer a warranty?
We have a one year complete warranty on all our products and services from the time of completion.
Will you provide contact information for previous clients?
Yes we absolutely will provide you contact information for clients of similar projects, and even set up a visit to their home so you can see the quality of our work yourself.
